Def book the van transport thru Anchorage office and not the local guy "Bob" or there is way too much confusion. You are few miles from the grocery store but town is about a mile so just perfect! We rented a car in Anchorage (from Hertz) then left it in Seward and took Seward "bus" Lines (which was really just a crappy van) to Whittier to catch a Princess Cruise. I read all of the reviews and some were negative but we had an awesome day kayaking! You can walk down the street about a block and do any type of water excursion you want from Milller's Landing. We ended up just eating a light breakfast and picking up sandwiches from grocery (which are really great esp for the price). Fridge is like a dorm fridge so it was difficult to keep veggies from freezing. It is a small one bedroom cabin but with the basic essentials. You wake up and go to sleep with both water and mountain views.

All the windows have blinds but aren't blackout curtains so the late sunset and early sunrise may bother your rest.Cannot beat the views from the Gatehouse Cabin! It is literally right on the water. Last thing I recommend is an eye mask if you're staying during the summer.

The cabin has a small dorm refrigerator which was a pleasant surprise so we were able to keep dinner left overs for snacks/breakfast the next day. It's far enuf to not be a privacy issue and it only happens during low tide. There's an RV campsite next door so if you stay on the beach like we did, you'll see families walking up and down the beach. A car can do it, but and SUV would provide more confidence. I recommend getting an SUV if you stay here. She recommended a smaller boat company for a wildlife/glacier tour that I hadn't found and they were wonderful! There are other accommodations available in Seward but they looked dumpy compared to Angels Rest. Once you book a cabin, her emails of information are wonderful resources and she booked 2 of my 4 activities. Lynda is helpful is recommending and booking several different tours. It's only a 5-10min (2 miles?) drive into Seward and all its shops, restaurants and attractions. The porches are nice to sit, chat and drink some wine or just relax alone and admire the view. We made friends with the people in the cabin next to us and shared a fire one evening while my son played on the rocks.

This isn't a hotel so don't expect daily maid service, which I prefer because it gives you more privacy. The view is spectacular! They have thought of everything you could possibly need and stocked the cabin with it, even cleaning supplies. There's only one bed which I didn't mind sharing with my son.

In all fairness I was warned when I booked but I think she thought I had an older son. It's small and a bit tight however it was perfect for 2 people. My 7-year-old son and I stayed 3 nights in Cloud 9. Clearly this was out of the control of the owners but it's something that was a disappointing part of our stay. I also have to say that Lynda was most sympathetic, and offered several suggestions on how best to mitigate. The resulting odor made being outside unpleasant, which permeated into the room one night. The City of Seward's sewage treatment plant is located in somewhat close proximity to Angels Rest and was unfortunately undergoing an upset condition during our stay. Lynda and Paul are very well connected in town and I'm glad that we listened to their recommendation! I have to mention one thing just as pure due diligence and it is not factored in the review rating. We saw sea otters just about every time! The owners also recommended a small group boat tour for us, which was fabulous and easily the best experience for us on this trip. We drove a Nissan Sentra and didn't have any problems. We really liked the drive from Seward - the dirt road is really not a problem at all. I would think that the raves about the views from the cabins are well deserved. The view from the room was nice but quite frankly we didn't spend a whole lot of time in our room, other than to look at the mountains as we went to sleep at night :-) The kitchenette is very well equipped and had everything that we could possibly need. We are very impressed with Paul's woodworking which is evident throughout all the buildings. We stayed in the View Nest room, which was a comfortable size for the two of us. We stayed at Angels Rest for three nights during out recent stay.
